GEIL EVO Potenza DDR4-2400 16GB Memory Kit Review

Overclocking

Overclocking is never guaranteed, so the results shown may vary from results on other memory kits. I am not recommending overclocking if you do not know what are you doing. High voltages may damage hardware and it will not be covered by warranty.

With lower spec DDR4 ram … you’ll always get a lot of head room when overclocking. Most DDR4-2400 that I’ve come across can easily overclock to DDR4-3000 or higher. From the tests and results below, you can see that the GEIL EVO Potenza DDR4-2400 is an excellent overclocker.

Aida64 Memory Benchmarks

Our overclocked GEIL EVO Potenza DDR4-2400 give us some excellent scores. Read speed reached 39,099 Mb/sec, while write and copy speed was maxed out at 43,1074 Mb/sec and 35,589 Mb/sec respectively.

Cinebench R15

An increase of only 10 points from 620 (default) to 630 (overclocked) during our Cinebench R15 test. Still, it’s a good score and I can’t really ask for more.

PCMark 8

The PCMark 8 score was 104 points better at 4,126 compared to 4022. When you’re oveclocking, any increase no matter how small is better than nothing.

HyperPi 32M

Average time was good at 8m 56sec (overclocked) compared to 9m 3sec (default). Again, only a slight performance improvement.

PassMark 8 Memory Performance Test

For PassMark 8 memory performance test, we got a score of 3112 (overclocked) compared to 3017 (default). Only a 95 points increase.

3DMark – Time Spy (default settings)

The overclocked GEIL EVO Potenza DDR4-2400 gaves us a slightly better Time Spy score of 4672 (overclocked) compared to 4512 (default).
