Our memory kit is rated at DDR5-7200 and is based on Hynix A-die IC. Hynix is currently the best option if we consider high frequencies and the best overclocking results. Additionally, we can find Richtek PMIC, which unlocks higher than standard voltages. Richtek PMIC is also supported by all leading motherboard manufacturers, so we are sure we won’t be limited in our overclocking challenges.

The tested memory kit has three XMP profiles at DDR5-6200, DDR5-6800, and DDR5-7200. Even if your motherboard can’t handle the DDR5-7200 profile, then you can pick something at a lower frequency but still fast.

Factory Timing Parameters:
Default (JEDEC): DDR5-4800 CL40-39-39 @1.1V
XMP Profile #1: DDR5-7200 CL38-44-44 @1.45V
XMP Profile #2: DDR5-6800 CL36-42-42 @1.40V
XMP Profile #3: DDR5-6400 CL32-39-39 @1.40V

Below you can see how ASUS Mem TweakIT reads all three profiles.

The most important is stability at the rated frequency, and with that, the Fury Renegade has no problems on Z790 motherboards. Our tests were performed on the MSI Z790I Edge, which is the cheapest motherboard rated to work at DDR5-8000, so we were sure that the XMP profiles would be supported.

Below is a screenshot from AIDA64 System Stability Test, focused on cache and RAM.

During the tests, we haven’t seen higher temperatures than 65°C. Even after overclocking at higher voltages, the temperature was not much higher. As far as heat sinks aren’t especially large, they work well.

We will take a closer look at the package and memory modules themselves on the next page.
