Kingston FURY Renegade RGB 48GB DDR5-8400 CUDIMM Memory Kit Review

Package and its Contents

FURY Renegade arrived in a retail package, a small, flat box about the size of the previously reviewed Kingston FURY Renegade kits.

The package contains two memory modules and a Kingston Fury logo sticker. This is enough to install our brand-new RAM. The installation is straightforward, and even less advanced users can handle it without problems.

The 8400MT/s memory kit looks similar to the previously reviewed Kingston kits, with black/silver heatsinks and an RGB light bar on top of them. Like all Kingston memory kits, it also supports infrared synchronization, which is the best option on the market as we don’t need support on the motherboard’s side to synchronize RGB effects. The RGB illumination works excellently on all popular motherboard brands.

The heat sinks are good enough to stabilize modules during work and after some overclocking. There was no overheating during tests, but it was expected, considering the results from previous reviews.

As I mentioned, the tested memory kit uses a Hynix M-die IC, the best option for high-performance RAM. There is no better IC for 24GB and 48GB modules that could run at higher frequencies and tighter timings. However, we see only the two 24GB kits in stores. A higher range of CUDIMM kits should be available in the first quarter of the upcoming year. The same situation applies to all the competition. Barely any other brand released CUDIMM to stores, and all kits have lower frequencies for CUDIMM. Motherboards are being tested for up to 10000MT/s, so it’s a matter of time until we see higher speeds.

The FURY Renegade has the best RGB illumination on the market. It’s not only fully synchronized without the need for additional software, but the backlight is even, the light is bright, and we can’t count LEDs like on most competitive memory kits. It’s the top choice if you are into RGB illumination.
If your motherboard has problems with RGB settings or you wish for more options, Kingston provides the FURY CTRL software – the screenshot is below.

Here are some photos of the test platform. In reality, it looks even better.
The memory kit will stay with us longer, so you will see it in the upcoming reviews of other products.

48GB is the perfect capacity for gamers. If we run more applications in the background and a favorite game, then we may reach 32GB, so the additional 16GB is reasonable headroom for anything that may be added. I often exceed 32GB on my PC, so I find 48GB perfect for my needs. I also see that the 48GB option is usually a gamer’s choice.
