Overclocking
Overclocking is never guaranteed so the presented results may vary from results on other memory kits. I am not recommending overclocking if you do not know what are you doing. High voltages may damage hardware and it will not be covered by warranty.
I won’t hide that overclocking results are a bit disappointing. Used Micron memory chips couldn’t pass DDR4-3000 mark. Raising voltage didn’t help much the same as relaxing timings. I was also checking available memory profiles with hope to find what can be the reason of so low maximum frequency but couldn’t find anything.
At the end I was able to set fully stable DDR4-2800 15-15-15 1.35V what also includes much tighter sub-timings. Still not bad for a gaming PC, however if you wish much higher frequency then better take a look at HyperX Predator series.
Conclusion and Verdict
HyperX Fury 16GB DDR4-2666 memory kit is solid option for less advanced users who wish to install memory and enjoy good performance without need of touching any settings. It runs at declared settings using programmed SPD profile as DDR4-2666 so there is no way to make any mistake during installation.
Assymetric heatsinks look good in black. This design fits to all available motherboards and low profile let it to work with all available cooling solutions.
Performance could be better but comparing to other DDR4-2666 memory kits it’s still good. I guess it won’t really matter and most gamers will be more than satisfied with its performance.
HyperX Fury 2x8GB DDR4-2666 memory kit costs about $147 on Amazon (click to check actual price). It’s quite good price for this memory. Buy now at Amazon – https://goo.gl/fr0dkd
Final words:
If you are looking for inexpensive 16GB DDR4 memory kit which is easy to install, performs well and looks good then HyperX FURY is memory for you. For sure there are faster memory kits but not many offer so good performance to price ratio.
