The Kingston Fury is a new memory kit that has one important change comparing to other HyperX memory. There is no XMP profile. This memory has been programmed in a way that the system automatically sets desired settings without any need to change anything in BIOS.
In our case DDR3-1866 memory worked at declared settings out of the box even though every option in motherboard’s BIOS has been set to auto.
That is a great feature especially for those who are not really familiar with BIOS options and have trouble to even set XMP profiles (believe me, a lot of users have those troubles).
Below we can see how our testing motherboard (ASRock Z87M OC Formula) identifies the Kingston HyperX Fury DDR3-1866 memory. Even though the screenshot shows 1778MHz, the motherboard is actually setting this memory kit to 1866.

This memory kit is a dual channel kit based on two single sided 4GB modules. This memory has been prepared for a 933MHz or DDR3-1866 effective speed. This is the optimal clock for most new platforms.
Closer Look
We are already accustomed to seeing memory in a blister type package. Here there are no big changes and the HyperX Fury came to us, unsurprisingly, in a retail plastic package the same as most other memory kits.
Inside the package we find two memory modules, a short installation manual, and a HyperX logo sticker. That is pretty standard for any memory product and most users should not have any problems installing memory modules onto motherboards.
The memory itself is protected by heatspreaders. The HyperX Fury is available in four colors so you can choose from white, blue, red and black heatspreaders. Exactly the same memory specification is available in every color so we do not have to sacrifice anything if we wish to pick any color option that fits our computers’ color scheme.
Kingston decided to use black PCB which looks great with the Fury heat sink design. I can say finally; as previously only the Beast series had a black PCB in every available kit. This does not affect performance but enthusiasts and computer modders care about details like that.
