Verdict and Conclusion
I have to say these sticks have been a fun experience to say the least. At times I felt like I wanted to pull my hair out due to them not clocking properly, but when everything falls into place at the right time solid numbers can be achieved.
But if you are playing with these sticks for the first time it is very possible to spend hours tweaking settings in order to overclock the sticks.
Running at stock may need a little bit of tweaking depending on your processor. People with a Sandy Bridge chip will be able to run stock settings but not much more. If you run Ivy Bridge it will be possible to hit some very solid overclock numbers.
Looking at the price, they can be found for about $60 in the US. If other kits clock like this one, that is a SOLID price. For a comparison, other sticks that run at 2600mhz run roughly $200 or more.
After overclocking these sticks they were easily the fastest sticks ever tested here at Funkykit. In terms of raw frequency they completely destroyed the competition. If you are looking for a set of memory that will give tight timings, look elsewhere because these sticks are made to go extremely fast while using moderate to loose timings.
Final words
If you are looking at getting into memory overclocking, but don’t want to break the bank this set is absolutely perfect. Huge frequencies can be achieved with this memory, but it is still stable enough to use in a daily system. I can’t help but recommend this line of Patriot memory.
Pros:
- 4Gb dimm size
- Improved heatspreaders
- Huge overclocking potential
- Solid warranty
- 1.5v out of the box
Cons:
- Does not work very well with tightened timings
- 3T timing out of the box hinders performance
- XMP profile is a little off depending on the board
