Conclusion
No matter what version of Patriot Viper III memory you pick, it will be the same high quality memory with good overclocking potential.
Variety of heatspreader colors is helping to pick best looking memory for your PC without sacrificing performance. It’s pretty good option as many modders often choose memory because of the looks. The only thing that could be changed is PCB color. It’s standard green what fits only to green heatspreaders.
Heatspreaders are maybe not low profile but not much higher and shouldn’t cause any issues while installing larger CPU cooling solutions.
Both Patriot Viper III kits, so Venom Red and Black Mamba, were acting really stable during all tests. There were no issues with SPD or XMP profiles or voltages what is sometimes happening for other brands.
Memory was performing really good. Even though high density modules have slightly more relaxed timings, we haven’t seen any notable difference comparing to 8GB 2400 CL10 kits. Also no matter if you are using 16 or 32GB you can count on the same performance ( not including much higher performance on 32GB when you are actually using more than 16GB RAM ).
You can find these 16GB Patriot Viper 3 DDR3-2400 memory for 200-220 USD what is maybe not low but reasonable price considering that competition has DDR3-2400 CL10 kits in similar or higher prices. Of course heatspreader color is not affecting price.
There is also worth to mention that Patriot memory has lifetime warranty. It’s maybe standard nowadays for most brands but not all.
Pros:
- high performance
- great cooling heatsinks
- available in 4 different color schemes
- works great on every platform
- good overclocking
- lifetime warranty
Cons:
- None
Final words:
Patriot made really good work designing Viper III memory series. Memory looks great and performs great. I can recommend it to everyone , no matter if it will be used in gaming PC or home server and virtual machines.
