Below we can see how our review sample is visible on the testing motherboard – Gigabyte Z87X-OC.
Memory has one XMP profile but as we can see in CPU-Z window there is also AMP profile so AMD Memory Profile. Not often we can see memory with AMP profiles but it’s good that Patriot prepared Viper series also for AMD platforms.
Below is AIDA64 DRAM Timings window which also shows us used voltage. Our testing board is slightly bumping this voltage so instead of 1.50V we see 1.51V.
Mem TweakIt is showing us more detailed timing list. Even though programmed Command Rate is higher, our testing motherboard is setting 2N using XMP profile. It can clearly run at this setting on Intel Haswell platform so we will use it also for all tests.
At the end CPU-Z window. We are already used to some profile read errors in CPU-Z but it shows us already mentioned AMP profile what we can’t see in above applications.
Closer Look
Patriot Viper III 2x4GB DDR3-2133 C11 memory is based on Hynix MFR IC, the same as previously reviewed Patriot Viper III 2x8GB DDR3-2400 C10 series. The main difference in this case is that 4GB modules are single sided while 8GB are double sided.
Package is exactly the same as for all other Patriot DDR3 products. Memory is protected by plastic blister and additionally all is inside black box.
On the box also nothing unusual. There is manufacturer and product name ,short specification and warranty info.
Warranty is of course lifetime as for all Patriot memory products.
Inside we can find two memory sticks and small sticker with Patriot logo.
Memory is low profile, what means it will work with every available processor cooler. Height is actually standard for regular DDR3 modules but since many available memory heatsinks are much taller than the memory itself, then we can call it low profile. As we remember in the previous Patriot review, standard Patriot Viper III memory has couple mm taller heatsinks.
Blue heatsinks are looking pretty good. Patriot called it Sapphire Blue but we can also find similar memory in Black Mamba or Venom Red colors. Some speeds are also available in green color. We can easily pick color which will be best for our PC interior without sacrificing memory speed or capacity.
PCB is green and as it was already mentioned, modules are single-sided. We can easily see that looking at the below photo.
PCB could be in some other color but it’s not so important and doesn’t affect memory performance.
