Conclusion
Patriot Viper III 8GB DDR3-2133 CL11 is a high quality, low profile memory and everything would be perfect if not lower than expected performance due to single-sided module configuration. It’s hard to blame Patriot for this fact as every memory manufacturer has limited IC choice nowadays and most available memory kits are based on high density Hynix CFR or MFR chips.
For sure one of the advantages are memory profiles, especially AMP which is rare on the market. We had no chance to test AMP profile but XMP was working without issues, keeping stability in all tests we performed.
Other advantage can be availability in different colors so we can pick the same specification of memory in red, blue, black or green heatsinks. We can also choose almost the same specification in standard height and low profile modules.
Price isn’t low but I think we are already used to high memory prices. Patriot Viper III 8GB 2133 cost about $100 in various online stores. It’s acceptable price for a home PC.
Pros:
- Low profile design
- Runs cool
- Available in different colors
- Lifetime warranty
- Great overclocking potential
- Flawless configuration ( XMP and AMP profiles )
Cons:
- Performance lower than expected
Final words:
Patriot Viper III 8GB DDR3-2133 is a good memory but low performance in various tests is not what we wish to see. It’s still good memory for home usage like gaming as we won’t see much lower performance and in worst case it will be 1-3%. To all who are looking for best performing series, I can recommend previously reviewed Patriot Viper III in 8GB modules ( so 16 and 32GB kits ).
