Patriot Viper Elite 5 TUF Gaming RGB DDR5-6600 48GB Memory Kit Review

Conclusion and Verdict

A lot of the time I get asked whether higher speed ram (or the amount of ram) makes a real difference, and is it worth getting. Well, the simple answer is yes. If you use applications that require lots of memory, such as Adobe suite, then it will help. Content creators and streamers will also benefit from high capacity and faster ram. However, if you’re a gamer you probably won’t see much difference.

At the end of the day, it’s all about compatibilty with your motherboard. Some will take higher capacity/higher speed ram with no issues, while others may require a BIOS update. Please check your motherboard’s memory QVL list.

With all memory settings on AUTO and XMP 3.0 enabled, the Viper Elite 5 TUF Gaming RGB DDR5-6600 48GB memory kits produced very good scores in all of our benchmarks. During the AIDA64 memory tests, we got a Memory Read speed of 101,879 MB/s, a Write speed of 89,207 MB/s and a Copy speed of 92,062 MB/s. These results fall in line with what we expected for memory modules running DDR5-6600 speeds.

We didn’t overclock these memory kits, as I didn’t really see a need for it. If you wish to run your memory at higher speeds … just go get them, higher speed DDR5 memory kits are more affordable now.

There are a few good selling points for the Viper Elite 5 TUF Gaming RGB DDR5-6600 48GB memory kits. Firstly, Patriot uses  specially selected and screened SK Hynix memory ICs. Secondly, these memory modules have been 100% hand tested and tuned for maximum perfomance. And thirdly, these memory kits are branded with TUF Gaming Alliance, offering support for both Intel XMP 3.0 and AMD EXPO profiles.

If you love RGB, then you’ll be happy to know that the Viper Elite 5 TUF Gaming RGB DDR5-6600 48GB memory kits supports not only their own Viper RGB Sync App, but also other RGB eco-systems such as Asus Aura Sync, MSI Mystic Light Sync, Gigabyte RGB Fusion or ASRock’s Polychrome Sync.

For cooling, the memory kits comes with some nice white Aluminum heatspreaders with some TUF Gaming Alliance branding and logos. They seem to do an adequatre job of cooling the ram.

You can buy the Viper Elite 5 TUF Gaming RGB DDR5-6600 48GB Memory Kit for around USD $149 from Amazon – https://amzn.to/3BekLU3. At this price, for a 48GB kit … you seriously can’t go wrong!

Final Thoughts

If you’re already invested in Asus’s TUF Gaming Alliance eco-system (motherboard, GPU, chassis, cooler etc), then these Viper Elite 5 TUF Gaming RGB DDR5-6600 48GB memory kits will be the ones to go for. They not only look great,  but also offer good performance and tight memory timings.
