Specifications
Patriot Viper Elite memory modules are taller than the standard DDR4 memory size but shouldn’t interfere with most available processor cooling solutions. However if you want to be sure you can use them then check dimensions which are specified in the above table.
Memory kit contains two 4GB memory modules and is designed to work with 100 series Intel chipsets. At the same time is compatible with X99 motherboards.
More detailed data about memory itself can be seen on the below screenshot from Thaiphoon Burner software.
As we see on the above screenshot, Patriot Viper Elite DDR4-2800 memory kit has only one XMP profile at quite relaxed memory timings. It requires standard DDR4 voltage of 1.2V.
Stability tests were performed on couple of applications. Below you can see over three hour stability test in AIDA64. All is perfectly stable and XMP profile itself was working on ASUS and MSI motherboards based on Z170 chipset but also ASRock X99 motherboard.
Closer Look
Patriot Viper Elite 2x4GB DDR4-2800 memory kit has arrived in a retail package which is a small box. Outside we can see 30th Anniversary sticker which is reminding how long we can see Patriot products on our market.
I guess that package is used in other memory kits too as there is info about quad channel what is of course impossible in case of two memory modules. However if we decide on two memory kits with the same product number then should also work in quad channel mode on X99 motherboards.
On the back of the package are general product descriptions and guaranteed stability. Patriot Viper memory series is covered by limited lifetime warranty, what you can also read on the box.
Inside the package are two memory modules protected by plastic, transparent clam-shell.
Less important but always a nice add-on is small sticker with Patriot logo which we can put on the computer case.
Memory modules look really good. They’re made of aluminum with agressive Viper logo on one side. We are testing blue memory kit but there are also available red and gray/silver kits. Not many but enough to match most available motherboards on the market. I guess that only yellow memory modules are missing which we could use on ASRock OC Formula and new Extreme series motherboards. On the other hand silver looks good on them too.
Patriot used black PCB what presents great with Viper Elite heatsink design. You can still see modules with green PCB on the Patriot’s website but new retail kits will be probably only on black PCB. I think it’s good as memory modules look simply better.
Below are additional photos of this great looking memory kit.
