Package and its Contents
The Viper Elite II, 32GB DDR4-3600 kit, arrived in retail packaging, a small, flat box. The package is exactly the same as for the 16GB kit. The design includes a transparent front which shows us one of the modules. Front and back also give us info about the product and support contact.
The Viper Elite II has no RGB LEDs or anything else that could bump the price. The memory modules are protected by aluminum heatsinks painted red and black, with a Viper Gaming logo on each side. We could say that it looks pretty standard for a gaming series RAM. There are better-looking Patriot RAM series, but the performance or performance to price ratio counts the most for most users.
The 32GB Patriot Viper Elite II kit heats up about as much as the 16GB one. The difference is about 2°C what is caused by more memory chips on the PCB. During a typical work, it will keep about 40-45°C in a standard PC case with not the best airflow.
Photos were taken on the MSI X570 Unify motherboard, while tests were performed on the MSI Z590I Unify. The results were good on both platforms, but the latest Intel has a better memory controller, giving us a wider range of settings that we can compare.
We will show you our test results in various benchmarks and popular games on the next page.
