Patriot Viper Steel Low Latency 16GB DDR4-3600 CL14 Memory Kit Review

Package and its Contents

The Viper Steel LL DDR4-3600 arrived in retail packaging, which is a small, flat box. The box is well described, so we clearly know what is inside.

We will find two memory modules and a Viper Gaming sticker inside the box. Since this is a memory kit, then we don’t really need anything else.

Viper Steel LL has precisely the same design as previously reviewed Viper Steel memory kits. Previous memory kits from this series proved that users like the design, and because of the great price to performance balance, many users recommend it in the gaming community. Especially DDR4-4000 and DDR4-4400 memory kits based on Samsung IC are often mentioned on various tech forums. Now we have two additional memory kits at much tighter timings, so it should be even better.

The tested Viper Steel LL memory kit is rated at DDR4-3600 and CL14. It’s about the lowest CL that can be set on popular motherboards. To set anything lower and keep stability, higher overclocking series motherboards are required. This is also the reason why we can set CL13 on many motherboards, but RAM manufacturers didn’t decide to sell their memory kits at such tight timings. Our test sample runs at CL13 on MSI Z590I Unify or ASRock Z690 Extreme, but some cheaper motherboards have random problems with booting. Our tests will be performed on ASRock Z690 Extreme with the latest BIOS. Below is the mentioned test rig.

I bet you can’t wait on some results, so let’s move to the next page to see how our memory kit performs in tests.
