Conclusion and Verdict
So after testing the RAM I found these to have the best latency to date. If you know about the silicon lottery then you know where I’m about to go. I think I have got a decent bin. Each kit of RAM will have varying performance even if it identical speeds. Most companies certify their RAM to achieve the advertised speed for sure but what isn’t usually advertised is the actual performance. And these modules had an absolutely great latency result. Your exact result could vary even if you have the exact same hardware but you can expect great performance out of any Toughram model you choose. The Toughram design aspect still takes on the competition with a very unique design style. Getting something out there that make you stand apart is one of the most important parts of the design process and Thermaltake as always delivered when it comes to unique. And yes they kept the shiny chrome accent a part of the design just like the Toughram from before. I don’t know what it is but the chrome just adds that extra bit of wow factor. You also have multiple way to customize the lighting. You can use the Toughram software or you can use the NeonMaker if you want to dive even deeper setting each of the 5 LEDs to a certain pattern.
The RAM achieved advertised XMP speeds on my board. I did’t try to exceed these speeds. I have seen a lot of RAM capable of overclocking past the XMP but these gains are minimal, most of the time, and for the performance increase you get, the instability and damage you can cause isn’t worth taking the RAM past the advertised speeds. Timings on the other hand can safely be tightened to get a little more out of your RAM! Just be prepared to clear the CMOS cause incorrect timings can cause your system not to post. But that wont damage your RAM like increasing the Voltages and Frequencies. With that being said, If you look at the timings from the CPU-Z screen shot it automatically set the CL to 18. At least we know setting the XMP worked without having to set anything manually. As you can see from the results, the RAM still performed very well. So if you have a X570S board paired with a 3700X you might encounter very similar performance results.
Lastly, the price. Here lately it hard to even know if you are getting a good deal because everything changes so quickly. Supplies are constrained and prices can change in the matter of moments. With that being said these are listed at around $150 USD. And as of right now that about the average price you will find for a set of 3600MHz CL18 RAM with RGB. So the price is fair in my opinion.
