There’s been a plethora of new product launches this fall, including a load of new DDR5 motherboards featuring Intel’s latest Z790 chipset (for 13th Gen processors), as well as AMD’s new X670E / B650E chipsets (for Ryzen 7000 series AM5 procesors). With so many new DDR5 motherboards coming to market, it’s not surprising that a lot of memory manufacturers are ramping up production of their DDR5 memory kits.
Toady, we’ll be taking a look at the Thermaltake TOUGHRAM XG RGB DDR5-6000 32GB Memory Kit. I’m pretty excited becasue these are the first DDR5 memory kits we’ve tested from Thermaltake with RGB! These memory kits are XMP 3.0 ready, and offer a total capacity of 32GB reaching speeds of up to DDR5-6000 with a CAS latency of 36-38-38-76, operating at a voltage of 1.3v.
The TOUGHRAM XG RGB D5 memory kits features with a sleek and sophisticated heatsink design, and comes 2 different colors of aluminum and trimmed with a chrome stripe in the middle. For RGB, each module offer a unique 16 high-lumen addressable LEDs for a more dynamic lighting experience. They also come with on-die error correction code (ECC) to give you increased stability and reliability.
And finally, the memory modules are built using high-quality components, which includes tightly screen memory ICs, and a 10-layer 2oz copper PCB.
As we see more and more DDR5 motherboards coming to market, prices of DDR5 ram will inevitably come down. As of October 2022, prices range from USD $140 to $200 for a DDR5-5200 32GB kit. One very important fact you need to be aware of, is that DDR5 is not backward compatible with DDR4. So this means if you get yourself a new Z790 motherboard (for Intel 13th Gen) or a Z670E motharboard (for AMD AM5), then you’ll also need pair them with new DDR5 ram.
I’m sure many of you already know who Thermaltake is but in case you don’t here’s some info on the company.
Our Mission – Delivering the perfect user experience
Every myth starts out as a dream, and at the beginning of every legend is a desire. The challenging, creative and competitive features of the Thermaltake Group offer an exciting and fascinating user experience that can be shared by everyone, while allowing users to transcend themselves in terms of function and potential.
Thermaltake Group’s three main brands—Thermaltake, Tt eSPORTS and LUXA2—have been merchandising high-quality products throughout the world, successfully establishing firm footholds in six major markets, including Europe, America, Oceania, Japan and China, with 95 regional distributors and more than 4,000 premium retailers.
All product planning is governed by close observation of the global PC peripheral market, and by keen understanding of consumer demands. Thermaltake creates direct contact opportunities with resellers and consumers by participating in major global ICT exhibitions and trade shows every year, and by developing innovative marketing strategies for the promotion of new products. Meanwhile, Thermaltake has incorporated a composite marketing system by making branch offices and regional distributors both the distribution channel and the technical support or service center, thereby providing customers access to instant support. By maintaining close contact with end users, we have managed to strengthen our corporate competitiveness and create momentum for the kind of growth that generates major accomplishments.
Quad Channel memory … here we come! For those who don’t know … DDR5 gives you two 32-bit wide (40-bit wide, with ECC) channels per stick, which means that you get a quad-channel configuration when running two DIMMs.
We’ll be testing the Thermaltake TOUGHRAM XG RGB DDR5-6000 32GB Memory Kit on our test rig, which includes an ASRock Z690 Taichi RAZER Edition motherboard, along with an Intel Core i9-12900KF processor and a ASRock Radeon RX 6750 XT (12GB GDDR6) graphics card.
With a rated speed of DDR5-6000, I’m expecting some decent results from all the benchmark tests we will be conducting. Let’s see how they’ll perform …
Let’s not waste any more time, and start by taking a look at the specifications and features on our next page. You can buy the DDR5-5600 version of the Thermaltake TOUGHRAM XG RGB D5 Memory 32GB Kit for around USD $288 from Amazon – https://amzn.to/3Mnxw04
