Features
The Mi Air Purifier 2 has several modes: auto, max and sleep. Set to auto, when the filter is running at normal speeds, the Mi Air Purifier 2 is hardly audible; my dogs electric water bowl was much louder. The auto mode also learns of your habits such as when you go to sleep and return back to house, and will then set the fan to maximum speeds to help clean the air in your room as quick as possible.
The Mi Air Purifier 2 comes with a smartphone app, Mi Home, which also lets you connect with over Xiaomi devices such as the Yi IP Cam, and is available for Android and iOS devices. The Mi Home app will let you have full control of the Mi Air Purifier 2:
- Mode change
- Power On / Off
- Buying a new filter
- Smooth shifting gears
- Smart learning
Setting up and connection the Mi Home app to the Mi Air Purfier 2 took a matter of minutes. Just select the Mi Air Purifier 2 device in the app, let it detect the wifi connection and select the Xiaomi wifi network.
After a minute the connection will have been established, and you’re good to go. There’s a switch here for turning notifications on, apart from giving you an update on how well the air quality is in your room, this is also a handy reminder for telling you when the HEPA filter needs to be replaced.
Here’s the main screen of the Mi Home app, showing you a real-time indicator of the air quality the Mi Air Purifier 2 is detecting. I’ve found the indicator updates around once every 1-2 seconds, and measuring it up to a professional AQI meter, the readings are not that far off, with a margin of around 5% for error. On this screen you can power the Mi Air Purifier 2 on/off, set it to auto, sleep or turn on up the internal fan, which you can set to different speeds.
Swiping up on the Mi Home app and a screen for all sorts of information is presented to you. The Mi Air Purifier 2 will measure the temperature and humidity of your room, tell you what the general feel and air quality is, and also how many days remaining before replacing the HEPA filter. At the bottom of the screen, the Mi Home app will inform you of how long it has been running, and the amount of air it has filtered in that time.

Hi – great review thanks. Just wondering – did you ever test it with cooking in the kitchen? Also, what AQI meter are you using and what scale does the Xiaomi Air Purifier air quality readings relate to?
