Verdict and Conclusion
For the Havoc mouse Coolermaster has gone with the higher DPI is better mentality. I really don’t agree with this tactic, but if that is what the people want you can’t really faulty CM for providing such products.
Overall performance is quite good. Out of the box the profiles for DPI leave a bit to be desired since the gaps between the 4 settings are so large … but to correct this, it’s quite easy to get the software off the Cooler Master website.
Scroll wheel performance can really be hit and miss, sometimes when scrolling upwards it feels like the wheel catches on something which prevents it from scrolling freely.
Looking around on the interwebs the Cooler Master Havoc Mouse comes in at around $55USD if you shop around a little. At this price is has a decent amount of competition. None of which go up to 8200dpi so if that is your thing it certainly is on its own.
Pros:
- Solid performance
- Tracks on glass
- Custom light colors
- Very high DPI
Cons:
- gloss coating on the side gets dirty easily
- Righty-only mouse
- Scrolling upward is hit and miss
Final words
Cooler Master made a mouse for those who are looking for the highest available DPI. Having 8200dpi available at the push of a button sure looks to impress some. Even if you don’t need such a high DPI level the Cooler Master Havoc Mouse does a good job at tracking regardless of the surface you use. However, if you’re a left-handed gamer, then you’re left out in this round.
