Box and Packaging
In the box, you get the keyboard itself, a USB-A to USB-C Cable and User manual. The packaging has Corsair’s yellow and black colour scheme which is very aesthetic.
A Closer Look
This keyboard is made from good quality materials with an aluminum top plate which is sturdy and stylish, and plastic for the base of the keyboard as well as the keycaps. The keycaps have a nice texture which helps while gaming and the rotary dial is very satisfying to use while giving you full control over audio and media.
The back of the keyboard has flip stands allowing you to adjust the height of the keyboard to fit experience whether its gaming or typing. The overall style and look of this keyboard is simple yet premium which is what I was expecting from Corsair.
As you can see from the pictures, this keyboard uses red switches specifically the CORSAIR MLX Red v2 linear switches that come pre-lubed. I have to say, these are by far the smoothest and best sounding stock keyboard coming from a bigger company.
Corsair K70 CORE TKL in Action!
When plugging the keyboard in with the type-c cable, the RGB effects instantly kick in meaning there is actually no need to run the software for the RGB to work. To customise the effects further and change key settings, the iCUE software is very useful so I do reccomend installing it.
After using this keyboard for typing and gaming, I have no complaints whatsoever. The keys are smooth and respond well while gaming and for typing the switches sound and feel amazing.
The Software
Corsair has linked this keyboard into its iCUE software for easy and in depth customisation. For example, lighting effects, key assignments, control dial settings and performance settings. These are all very useful features to have and I am glad this keyboard offers that support since many keyboards form other brands don’t.
The lighting effects section allows you to change between many effects annd colours that fit to your liking which is a good feature to have if you like rgb!
The key assignments are also very easy to set by just pressing the key you want to assign and choose what action you want it to perform when pressed.
Verdict and Conclusion
The Corsair K70 Core TKL is a fantastic mechanical keyboard that combines impressive features and great value. With its pre-lubricated Corsair Red switches, it offers a smooth and satisfying typing experience, while the per-key RGB lighting provides many customization options through the included software.
The keyboard’s aluminum top plate and double-shot ABS keycaps ensure durability and a premium feel. Although the keyboard is not wireless, it offers a detachble wire which gives you the option for a custom wire, along with an adjustable rotary dial which adds to its functionality.
