COUGAR has made some strides with their products lately and the 700M is no exception. Even a person newer to the realm of PC gaming can plug this mouse in and benefit from the control and comfort offered without any optimization whatsoever. That being said, this mouse is definitely designed with the hardcore gamer in mind, including those of the profession e-sports flavor. The aluminum frame makes this mouse so light it is unreal and will not stress you gaming hand even for the longest of sessions. The innovative “Sniper” button is a great way to switch to a more appropriate DPI resolution on the fly to maximize your accuracy while going for that headshot in the heat of the frantic moment. And anyone who knows gaming mice can certainly understand the importance of macros as sometimes the default button settings in games are just subpar.
On top of it all the swappable palm rest allows the user freedom to adjust for maximum comfort and control. The UIX software is really easy to understand and utilize; and really shines when you have another compatible COUGAR peripheral such as a keyboard to unlock some sweet potential.
There were a few minor hiccups such as the inability to see and really appreciate the custom LED lighting, since it has been placed at the front of the mouse and underneath the scroll wheel. The DPI indicator LEDs are not customizable either. The weight cartridge also seemed to need additional spring to release it as well. None of these are deal breakers though since the performance, comfort and control of this mouse are just superb.
