Conclusion and Verdict
So for a company that has a reputation for focusing on Graphics cards, this keyboard was a pleasant surprise. The keyboard has a solid frame and performs just as you would expect, for something from EVGA. The Optical switches are something I personally like. If you are wanting the most the most accurate switch you can find this is the switch you want. It doesn’t rely on typical actuation points of contact that can wear out over time. This switch is basically digital, using lasers to actuate the command. And if you are someone that wants the click feedback then they also offer a clicky switch utilizing the optical technology! They feel very similar to your typical switches, they just use a more advanced tech. The resistance and sound are very much the same as you would be used to.
I like the ability to allow my monitor to sleep while I am away from my computer. (PC not so much, I like to keep that going at all times. Usually because I am doing something in the background.) But the idea of being able for my peripherals to sleep is now a must have, after using this keyboard. Now if I could just get my computer to greet me every time I enter the room, (Like Jarvis from Iron Man) I would be set! The ToF worked every time and is something I hope to see on more products. When I wasn’t around the keyboard hibernated and the second I came into range this keyboard and lights came to life and I was ready to go.
The RGB lights and software were very easy to customize and the lights looked great. The EVGA Unleash RGB software wasn’t to difficult to navigate. The software wasn’t a resource hog either. From the screenshots earlier in the review, you see exactly what you get with the software.
The keyboard has a removeable wrist rest. The wrist rest can be detached and has a soft leather material and very soft padding. The wrist rest is textured, as seems to be pretty durable. Lastly the aluminum chassis is absolutely fantastic. The durability of the frame is built to withstand the many hours you are about to throw at it.
