Genesis Xenon 770 Hybrid FPS/MMO Mouse and Boron 500 XXL RGB Mouse Pad Review

Closer Look

The Xenon 770 mouse comes in a small box what is a typical package for this kind of product. The box is well described in a couple of languages and has key features listed on the box’s side. This is all we could expect to see on the exterior.

Inside the box, we will find a short user’s manual additional side panels, and a spare set of skates. Of course, there is also a mouse. Everything is well-protected and suggests that the product is high quality.

At first sight, the mouse itself isn’t unusual. When we take a close look, we see that the side panels can be replaced so that we can use a set of programmable buttons with FPS or MMO games in mind. I assume that this product will be an option for MMO gamers rather than FPS, but those who play both genres have a choice that makes the mouse more comfortable for their play style. Replacing the panels is also really easy as they’re using magnetic pads. We don’t need any tools, and everything is a matter of seconds.

The mouse has 14 programmable buttons, so it should be enough for most gamers. We can find mice with some more buttons, but the list is really short, and it’s hard to find mice like that in stores. This is also one of the strong points of the Xenon 770 as the competition is limited.

The Xenon 770 uses a Pixart PAW3327 sensor and high durable switches, similar to the competition’s higher mice series. The difference is mostly in the price as Genesis is significantly cheaper.

Since I have quite large hands, then I like larger mice. The Xenon 770 isn’t the largest, but it still fits well and is comfortable to use.

Now let’s take a look at the Boron 500 XXL mouse pad.

The Boron 500 XXL comes in a box that, besides the mouse pad, contains a USB cable and a set of stickers with the Genesis logo. There is not much more, but we won’t need anything else to use this product.

The mouse pad is made of fabric and on the back has rubber so it won’t slide. The mouse, on the other hand, glides well on the surface due to teflon skates. Skates in the Xenon 770 mouse are designed for gaming, which helps in smooth movements. Again, the same can see in higher competitive mice.

The quality of the fabric is about the same as that of top mouse pads on the market. I don’t think you would feel the difference between this mouse pad and something from brands like HyperX, Corsair, or anything else more expensive. That’s, of course, a good sign as considering the size and built-in RGB lighting, the Boron 500 XXL price is quite low.

Below are additional photos with the mouse and the mouse pad with some RGB lighting. Everything looks great and works great. I’m sure that gamers will be satisfied as there were no problems during tests.

On the next page, I will tell you some more about the software and RGB lighting management.
