Genesis Xenon 800 RGB Gaming Mouse and Carbon 500 Ultra Blaze Mouse Pad Review

Closer Look

The Xenon 800 RGB mouse comes in a small box, about the same size as previously reviewed Genesis mice. The box is well described in a couple of languages and has key features listed on the box’s side. Everything we may want to know is printed on the exterior.

Inside the box, besides the mouse itself, we will find a user’s manual, an additional top cover, spare sets of skates, and a set of weights. Everything is well-protected and suggests that the product is high quality.

The mouse is designed with popular recently hexagonal holes on most of its surface. It looks interesting, lowers the weight, and helps in air circulation. The top cover can be replaced if we wish to have a more standard mouse. It doesn’t cost much and is an excellent addition as every user is different and may dislike a perforated panel.

The mouse has six programmable buttons, which is more than enough for most gamers. For those who play MMO games, I recommend the Xenon 770, which can have more buttons programmed.

The Xenon 800 mouse uses a PixArt PMW 3389 sensor and high durable switches. PixArt sensors became a standard in higher gaming series mice. The sensor supports between 200 and 16000 DPI, which is even too much for most gamers, but it can be handy for specific titles.

The mouse is very precise and moves smoothly. It can be too light for some users, so the smart idea was to add 12 weights that we could adjust for perfect control. For me, the mouse was a bit too light but also smaller than I’m used to. Most users, however, don’t have as large hands as I do, so it should be just right.

Genesis also provided the Carbon 500 Ultra Blaze, which is a perfect mouse pad for gaming. It’s made of fabric in front for a perfect mouse glide and rubber in the back so that it won’t change its position during long gaming sessions.

I just love these huge mousepads. Carbon 500 Ultra is over 1m long, so it covers most of the standard gaming desk. It’s also waterproof, so we don’t have to worry about spilling some liquids. Of course, it’s recommended to keep it clean.

On the next page, I will tell you some more about the software and RGB lighting management.
