Closer look
The packaging is what you have probably come to expect if you are an experienced buyer of gaming mice and various other equipment.
The bread and butter design is a balance of efficiency and aesthetics.
But of course what is outside is obviously just scratching the surface so let us crack open the case and see what we got for Christmas.
Right off the bat, you can tell this is a mouse that means business.
Take a look at that and tell me you do not want to plug it in and play the loudest FPS you have in your library. I mean look at the scorpion!
And of course there is the cable which is braided so as to avoid any tangling and/or stretching. Short of cutting the cable in half with a hedgeclipper there is no need to worry about damage. I know too well how frustrating it can be when a wire or two get snapped during the middle of a competitive match.
Oh and before I forget, I should mention the lighting system. It is pretty darn awesome. Normally the red light does not shine when you are not playing a game, but when it does it has a slow pulse; almost like a beating heart. What a perfect analogy for a gaming mouse! The dark red glimmer on the middle mouse button and GX logo add a lot to the overall persona.
Each button on the Maurus is very responsive and easy on the hands and fingers. The middle mouse button (not that one, the one below it) is the DPI Macro/Profile toggle switch. With it you can easily choose from five separate Macros/Profiles which makes for easy adjustment when switching from game to game. In some games you will even get a handy notification box telling you which profile you have selected. You will also have two side buttons at your disposal for the creation of custom Macros and specific commands for programs like Microsoft Office and so on.
Now before we proceed to the performance section, I will go into just a little more detail on the feel of the mouse. On both sides are special material covers for easy grip and flex so the mouse will not slip out of your hand in a moment of rage. Not only that, but both sides also have convenient buffers to rest your thumb and pinky or ring finger. I must also mention that every other type of mouse you use after a good half hour with the Maurus will likely feel puny in size. Not that it is a bad thing seeing as how most of us would rather be using a comfortable mouse than a painful one. You know the ones I mean…Anyway, moving on.
