Main review
After spending a few days and writing this entire review with the SlimStar 8008 keyboard and mouse I feel like Genius has made a compelling value for the price.
The Mouse
The mouse feels really well made considering the price point even though it’s made of plastic. It also looks pretty sleek with a brushed metal look to the top.
Once I downloaded Genius’s software for the mouse I was able to adjust various settings and the DPI, no matter what I had the settings at the mouse movements felt smooth, during normal use I was able to accurately click on items and during gaming in The Witcher 3 I was able to spin the camera around smoothly and combat felt as fluid as it does with my normal gaming mouse, I also tried it in PUBG and it worked great for that too aiming felt smooth and accurate and although I never got any kills while using this mouse it was hardly the devices fault since I usually do poorly.
The scroll wheel feels solid too, with a rubberized center it’s easy to grip with one finger and while you scroll the wheel clicks with each activation point, clicking down on the mouse wheel feels solid too it makes a similar sound to clicking the left and right buttons and input is activated on-screen as soon as it clicks.
While I was unable to find any advertised battery life the mouse as lasted through all of my testing (around 5 hours) without any indications of a low battery so the battery should last a while without needing to be replaced.
The only complaint I have is that the included mouse is really small if you’re used to using a palm grip, even with my smaller than average hands it was uncomfortable to palm grip this mouse, but once I switched to using a claw grip this mouse was much more comfortable.
Overall while this mouse isn’t trying to be the greatest mouse ever it works just as well as any other mouse I’ve tried and for the price it performs as well as I expected I just wish it was a bit larger, I’m rating the mouse portion of this combo deal 4/5.
