Software Test Drive
As you may have noticed, there is no software CD included in the package. Therefore, we will have to go to GIGABYTE’s website to download the optional software per the included user’s manual. Now mind you, the software is not required; the XM300 works just fine with standard Windows input drivers. However if you want to experience the full functionality and customization of the mouse, then you will definitely want to download the software.
LED Settings
The customization options related to the RGB LED lighting are found in the first tab of the software. Users can adjust the behavior, brightness, speed, and any color that they choose all whilst saving said settings in a particular profile if necessary. The DPI LED does not change. Sad face.
Button Settings
Secondly, users may re-map certain buttons for specific functions.
Macro Settings
The third tab in the software allows the programming of macros. Users have complete control here whether be it the customization of multiple commands, delays, and the macro names of course. All of these settings can be manipulated and saved to three separate profiles. Here you can also coordinate several functions between other compatible GIGABYTE peripherals.
Pointer Settings
The fourth tab is used to customize the DPI settings for each of the four presets that may be adjusted on-the-fly.
The firmware for the mouse can also be updated through this software and can be found in the others tab. We updated to the latest firmware without so much as a hitch! Now that we have went over the software and customization, we will move on to the finished looks and performance overview!
