Sharkoon SKILLER SGK3 White Gaming Keyboard Review

Closer Look

The Sharkoon SKILLER SGK3 keyboard comes in a typical for keyboards, flat box. The box is well described in a couple of languages and has key features and everything else we may need to know printed n the exterior. The same as packages of other Sharkoon products, this one is also perfect for retail stores and should present well on a shelf.

Inside the box, we will find the keyboard, a user’s manual, and an additional keycap set with an easy key removal tool. Everything is well-protected and suggests that the product is high quality.

The keyboard is wholly white and has a layout typical for most keyboards. There are some differences in special key shortcuts, but that’s about all.

The cable is covered with a braided textile which seems like a must for higher series of gaming accessories. It protects the cable and makes it look better. The cable has a 1.8m in length, so also about as much as most keyboards. It would be even better if the cable were detachable with a USB-C port, but I guess it would raise the price, and most users don’t need that.

Kailh red switches make less noise while intensive typing than the Cherry switches used in older competitive keyboard series. On the other hand, it feels less comfortable. Maybe it’s just me as I’m used to working on blue switches and a bit different keyboard shape.

The keyboard doesn’t have an additional wrist rest but is flat enough, so it’s shouldn’t be required. The sturdy metal design and rubber pads cause that the SGK3 isn’t light but is also not sliding on the desk. It is essential if you are actively using the keyboard for an extended time.

Sharkoon Keyboard Software

The keyboard can be programmed with easy-to-use software. There are no problems with learning it. However, I wish to see one software to manage all Sharkoon devices as each mouse, keyboard, or anything else, has its separated software.

The dedicated software enables the full functionality of the keyboard, so it is recommended to install. The software can be installed from a single file that is provided on the product website. After two clicks, the software is installed.

Below are screenshots from the mentioned Sharkoon software. Everything seems clear, and I don’t think that requires further explanation.

Every button on the main screen opens additional windows or enables options.

There are also three profiles that we can save for all the options or specific macros.

The RGB backlight can be programmed as a preset that we can pick from the various modes list or assign the backlight to each key separately. It’s pretty much optimal, and we could find it in the top keyboard series from the competition.
