Verdict and Conclusion
When I first saw the apex i had something like this is one of the most beautiful keyboards I’ve ever seen!
Now that i reviewed it, I have the same feeling, It has great build quality, feels strong, good soft keys, customization options and the lights just look so beautiful when yous find the right colors.
If you are coming from a mechanical keyboard, it will take some adaptation but after a while you will have a great experience with it. Although I hope Steelseries will release a mechanical version of the Apex
The Pros
– Lights!
– 22 Macro keys
– USB hub
– Independent media keys
– braided cord
And the cons
– Not mechanical
– Left macro key stroke sometimes annoying
Final Words:
The only thing I find unfortunate about the Apex is that its not a mechanical keyboard, And for users who are using a mechanical keyboard, i don’t think they would switch that easy to a rubber dome keyboard, Its absolutely a great keyboard but if it should be mechanical it would be absolutely fantastic!
If you like me never had a keyboard with macro keys or volume keys or… You can find this annoying if you want to let your left hand rest on your WASD key’s and beside the keyboard.
For around 90 Euros you can own your very own Steelseries Apex Gaming keyboard. And for around 60 euros you can own the Apex (RAW), Its actually the same keyboard but the bells and whistles are removed. You only have White lights as back light color, 17 macro keys, no USB hub and no media keys. Its on you to decide what you really need or want. But all the other specifications are the same.
