Verdict
The Steelseries Rival Optical mouse is an excellent mouse that is if you are using a mousepad or using it on a really flat solid surface. That was the biggest negative point I had about the mouse in the time I used it. Something we have seen on the Apex, the Siberia Elite and now on the Rival the color customization, where you can choose out of 16.8 Million colors so I think you have choice enough, or not?
Then secondly the Anti-Sweat coating on the mouse is really soft and when gaming I do sweat a lot so mostly my mice are a bit dirty. But thanks to the Anti-Sweat coating my Rival is still clean, So I am happy. The rubber grips are great when you are in a hefty gaming session and you need to move your mouse a lot but still have precision, thanks to the rubber grips you can easily work precises without losing or letting the mouse slip away.
The design and the shape of the mouse is really well done, my hands are very comfortable on the Rival what is obviously a good thing.
Pros
– Illumination
– Soft Anti-Sweat coating
– Rubber Grips
– Ergonomic design
Cons
– Does not work so well on some surfaces like wood
– Maybe difficult to use for people with small hands
Final Words
The Steelseries Rival mouse is pretty aggressively priced to compete with other gaming mice, the Rival is available for around 50 Euros what is a decent price for a mouse. I do recommend getting a mouse pad if you work on a surface what is not really flat, but for gamers that would be no problem as you mostly already own a mousepad. I really enjoyed testing and working with the Rival mouse.
If you have relatively large hands plus you have a mousepad or a flat surface to work on, you will probably love this mouse. I can also recommend it to people who want a cool looking mouse with a lot of customization options and do not want to pay a fortune for it.
