Steelseries SHIFT Gaming Keyboard Review

The packaging and box for the Steelseries SHIFT is probably the biggest I’ve seen for a keyboard … but then again, this is no ordinary keyboard. Again, Steelseries does not include a driver CD … so you’ll have to download it from their website.

Closer Look

The SHIFT keyboard itself weighs quite a bit at 1,75kg . It’s also fairly large, measuring 490mm x 190mm x 40mm in dimensions. And if you add the wrist rest … it becomes even large. It’s definitely one of the biggest keyboards I’ve seen in a long while.

Build quality is very good. Solid construction and good materials used (none of that cheap plastic). The interchangeable keyset is easy to use and keys feels pretty solid and tactile when you’re typing on it. So no problems there.

The gold-plated USB connector, mic-in and audio-out is a great bonus to have, giving you better connectivity and less signal loss. There’s only one thing missing here, which would have made the mouse even better … a braided cable.
