Thermaltake MEKA PRO Cherry Red Mechanical Keyboard Review

Main Review – Part 2

Sound while typing

In the sound file below I compare the MEKA Pro Red against another keyboard using MX Blue clone switches, as you can hear this keyboard is extremely quiet in use and when compared to other switch types. Typing is still audible but not by much.

Overall this is extremely quiet for a mechanical keyboard and I have no complaints when it comes to sound. I rate this aspect 5/5

Performance while gaming

When I first started testing for this keyboard I preferred clicky switches like Cherry MX Blues but after testing this for a week I think MX Reds are my new favorite key switches.

I was extremely pleased with how this keyboard felt during gaming, all of the keys were responsive during gaming, during my Witcher 3 game-play the keys were quick to press and actions happened on-screen instantly once a key was pressed showing no signs of lag. The keys were easy to press requiring very little effort to press with key presses being registered a little past the halfway point. It is hard to put how a keyboard feels into words so I would recommend checking out a key sampler to get an exact feel on how these switches feel.

This keyboard also comes in Cherry MX Brown and Blue variants so if you like one of those switch types more you can get it in one of those.

Overall during gaming I was extremely pleased with how the keys felt, they are light enough for rapid presses and even though they don’t click they’re still tactile and feel solid to press. I rate gaming performance 5/5

Performance while typing

I was extremely pleased with typing performance while using this keyboard for typing. I typed this entire review using this keyboard and haven’t had any problems the entire time. The keys are easy and light to press so typing quickly was super easy and I didn’t have many issues with typing the wrong letters while typing. I was able to score 42WPM with 95% accuracy which is up from the 39 I usually score with most other keyboards so if you do large amounts of typing this keyboard should suit you well.

Overall I am extremely satisfied with the typing performance of this keyboard and rate this portion 5/5.

Now lets move on to the conclusion and final score!

Lots of criticism of what it does not have compared to cheaper keyboards, but there wasn’t any information on whether those cheaper boards also had cherry mx switches.
If they don’t, then that isn’t really a fair comparison to pick fault with.
