Performance: Part 2
VRMark and 3Mark results are again better on the X470 chipset. What is interesting is that in 3D tests only these easier to pass tests are showing the difference. In more demanding tests all motherboards perform about the same.
Below is 3DMark Time Spy test which is showing exactly the same so the easier test is a bit lower on the B450 while the Extreme test is about the same on all motherboards.
Overclocking is not much worse than we could see on the more expensive motherboards. Our pretty average Ryzen 5 2600X could run at 4125MHz. On the other hand, automatic settings and default AMD frequency boost technology let it run a bit higher on single cores and that’s normal for these processors.
I guess that all users who decide on ASRock B450M Pro4 will be satisfied. It performs well, is inexpensive and overclocks well. ASRock also cares about memory and other devices support so we don’t have to worry about that. Next BIOS releases should bring additional improvements in compatibility of higher frequency memory.
