The Box and Packaging
Inside the box, you’ll find the instruction manual, software setup guide, an ASRock postcard, drivers disc, 2 packs of SATA data cables, and 4 x M.2 screws for your SSDs.
The B550 Steel Legend Motherboard
The motherboard looks pretty decent with its black/white/gray camo design and large Aluminum alloy heatsinksfor the VRMs/Mosfets. You’ll also find two M.2 Armor heatsinks for the SSDs, but no active cooling for the chipset.
The LEDs for Polychrome Sync can be found on the I/O and the large heatsink covering the bottom M.2 connector.
A Closer Look
The motherboard comes with a decent amount of features including … 6 x SATA ports, 1 x PCIE 4.0 x16 steel slots, 1 x PCIE 3.0 x16 slot, 2 x PCIE 3.0 x1 slots, 1 x Ultra M.2 slot, 1 x Hyper M.2 slots for SSDs. There’s also a handy onboard diagnostic LED, however there’s no buttons for clear CMOS, power on/off and reset, which is a shame.
For the rear I/O panel, there’s a DisplayPort, HDMI, 2 x USB 3.2 Gen1, 2 x USB 3.2 Gen2 (both Type-A and Type-C) and 4 x USB 2.0 ports. There’s NO onboard WiFi but do get the Dragon 2.5GB ethernet LAN, and the usual array of connectors for 7.1 HD audio.
