Verdict and Conclusion
Well, what can I say about the ASRock B550 Taichi Razer Edition? … other than it’s a fantastic motherboard. It’s positioned at the higher-end of the B550 chipset series, and with good reason. Just like ASRock’s flagship X570 Taichi Razer Edition, this motherboard is absolutely packed with features and performs just as well. If I didn’t know any better… I would have thought these two motherboards were exactly the same, except for one big difference … it’s $100 cheaper than the X570 Taichi Razer Edition, which is currently retailing at $399. So for $299, the ASRock B550 Taichi Razer Edition is probably the best value “enthusiast-grade” motherboard you can get right now.
What makes this motherboard stand out, is the inclusion of Razer’s Chroma RGB, which offer amazing lighting effects that’s fully programmable using Razer’s Synapse software. And just like on the X570 Taichi Razer Edition, this motherboard is packed with a ton of features including the 7.1 HD Nahimic Audio, 3 x PCIE 4.0 x16 steel slots, as well as 3 x Hyper M.2 slot for PCIE Gen4 SSDs, and a total of 8 x SATA ports. For connectivity, it comes with the Killer WiFi6 and 2.5GB LAN, and as well as a load of USB 3.0/3.2 ports, both Gen1 and Gen2.
With the B550 chipset, there is no need for an active cooling fan (unlike the X570), which means less noise and less heat. Having said that, you do still get the exquisite backplate for the motherboard which helps with cooling, and provides extra strength and stability. Wait, I’m not finished … you also get ASRock’s unique features that are found on their Taichi series, which includes the 16 Power Phase Design, Digi Power, Premium 60A chokes, 2oz Copper PCB, Nichicon 12K black caps, Dr. MOS, as well as my favourite … the onboard power-on/off and reset buttons.
During our benchmarks, it produced some really nice scores, including a Cinebench R23 score of 9,834, and a PassMark9 score of 6,601. For PCMark 10, we g ot a score of 7,646, and a score of 7,680 for UL’s latest Procyon Photo Editing Benchmark. The results are quite impressive and easily matches other X570 motherboards that we’ve tested in the past. For 3DMark Port Royal we got a score of 6,770 with a DLSS score of 44.90 fps. And finally, for Timespy and Firestrike, we got excellent scores of 10,630 and 24,234 respectively.

All said and done, I’m extremely impressed with the performance of the ASRock B550 TAICHI – RAZER EDITION … it competes extremely well against its bigger sibling, the X570 Taichi Razer Edition, plus it has all the same features too, but for $100 cheaper. If you’re an enthusiast gamer who loves Razer but really don’t like the active cooling fan on the X570 chipset, then there’s no reason not to consider the ASRock B550 TAICHI – RAZER EDITION.
