Installation
I love my new Vertical Open Chassis which I used for my test rig. It gives me unresticted access to all the components and allows me to easily mount the waterblock on to my CPU. As for the rest of the installation process, we didn’t encounter any issues whatsoever.
BIOS
The first BIOS screen you’ll see on the ASRock Z690 Steel Legend is the summary page. Here, you can check the system status including fan speeds, SATA/SSD configuration, current CPU speed, and DDR4 speed. During our tests, we left everything on AUTO/Default, however I did enable XMP profiles for the memory supporting DDR4-3600 ram.
The advanced tab allows users to configure settings for CPU, chipset, voltages, storage and NVMe configuration, as well as onboard devices USB, TPM and more. You also get the boot menu and hardware monitor showing you the current temperatures and voltages.
Although the B660 chipset does not allow you overclock your processor, it does offer some options for memory overclocking. You can manually set the speed of your DDR4 ram or just simply select and enable XMP 2.0 profiles, providing your DDR4 ram is compatible and supports it.
