ASRock Phantom Gaming B650E PG-ITX WiFi Motherboard Review

Performance – Part 1

All tests were performed on the ASRock B650E PG-ITX WiFi motherboard, Ryzen 5 7600 processor, Colorful RTX4080 Advanced OC graphics card, Crucial 64GB DDR5-5200@6200 CL32 memory kit, and Silicon Power XS70 PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 SSD. For the tests has been used Win11 x64 environment with the latest updates. Everything else will be mentioned during the tests.

Memory performance

The motherboard has no problem handling memory up to DDR5-6400, so exactly as specified. However, the tested memory kits couldn’t keep full stability at this frequency, so we used DDR5-6200 for tests. It’s a good result considering that we used Crucial DDR5-5200 and relaxed timings, and we could set DDR5-6200 and CL32 without big problems. Just as a reminder, I will add that most AMD setups may have problems with DDR5-6400, not to mention DDR5-6600. However, we can count on better results as long as we have a processor with a strong memory controller and good RAM.

Below you can see our results at DDR5-6200 with mentioned Crucial DDR5-5200 memory kit.

Processor performance and mixed load tests

Rendering benchmarks and tests based mainly on processor performance look great on the B650E PG-ITX.

Above, you can see our result in Blender and below in Cinebench R23. Both are about as high as they can be on Ryzen 7600 processor.

PCMark 10 results are essential as they show how all components work with each other in a mixed-load environment. It can be translated into regular daily work, so what we all do and expect good results. The B650E PG-ITX performs well in PCMark 10 tests. All results are high for our test platform and similar to what we could reach on other B650E and X670E motherboards.

Storage performance

The tiny ASRock motherboard performs great in storage tests. On our M.2 SSD, we could reach 7400MB/s, even though the test operating system was running from this SSD.

The 3DMark Storage Benchmark confirms high storage performance in games.

USB controller handles external SSD well. We could reach 1004MB/s on a Patriot SSD, which is rated at 1000MB/s, so the result is just perfect.

On the next page, we will check how network controllers and 3D games perform.
