Today, we’ll be taking a look at the ASRock Phantom Gaming B760I Lightning WiFi motherboard. It’s a compact, feature-rich gaming motherboard that’s comes in a Mini-ITX Form Factor measuring just 17 x 17cm.
It features a rock solid 14+1+1 Power Phase Design with SPS for Vcore+GT, and it’s cooled with a composite VRM heatsink combining a cooling fan, and a large aluminum heatsink with heat pipe for maximum heat dissipation.
It’s compatible for all Intel 12th Gen, 13th Gen and the latest 14th Gen processors on the LGA 1700 socket, and supports DDR5 ram with speeds of up to DDR5-8600+ OC.
Expansion slot includes 1 x PCIE 5.0 x16 slot with re-inforced steel and surface mount technology. For connectivity, it comes with ASRock’s Phantom Gaming 2.5GbE LAN and support for WiFi 6E.
And for storage, you get 3 SATA ports and 2 x Hyper M.2 PCIE Gen4x4 slots for SSDs, which should be enough for most users.
And lastly, you get all of ASRock’s unique features including the 7.1 HD Nahimic audio, 8-layer 2oz Copper PCB, and Polychrome RGB.
As you know, I love mini-ITX motherboards. I’m just amazed by how you can pack all the latest technologies in to such a small package. Most of the custom scratch PC builds that I’ve seen uses mini-ITX motherboards due to its size and versatility. You literally put this board in to any chassis, custom-built or otherwise.
One interesting feature about the ASRock Phantom Gaming B760I Lightning WiFi motherboard, is the ability to support memory up to DDR5-8600+ OC. That’s just unheard of for a mini-ITX board, as most higher speed memory can only work on high-end enthusiast motherboards.
Let’s continue and find out more about the Intel B760 chipset …
Intel B760 Chipset
Intel’s comprehensive chipset portfolio also includes the Intel® H770 and B760 chipsets that, when paired with Intel’s 13th Gen Intel® Core desktop processors deliver dynamic capabilities and accelerated connectivity. Both chipsets support memory overclocking1 but offer distinct I/O and PCIe processor configurations. The H770 chipset accelerates multi-tasking with greater data throughput capabilities of up to 16 PCIe 4.0 lanes, 8 PCIe 3.0 lanes, bifurcation of the CPU PCIe lanes, and support for SATA and PCIe RAID. The B760 brings up to 10 PCIe 4.0 lanes and 4 PCIe 3.0 lanes for the speed and performance to power modern work needs. Choose the features you need to get the most from your everyday gaming, creating, and productivity.
The B760 chipset allows a total 10 usable PCIE 4.0 lanes, with upto a maximum memory capacity of 128GB. It’s also capable of up to 6 x USB 3.2 Gen1 5Gbps, 4 x USB 3.2 Gen2 10Gbps and up to 2 x USB 3.2 Gen2x2 20Gbps. Strangley no mention of PCIE 5.0 Gen5 support for NVME SSDs.
