The Box and Packaging

Inside the box, you’ll find the motherboard, an installation guide, a regulatory notice, 1 x Thermal probe, 1 x SATA cables, and 1 x Pair of WiFi 7 antennas. 

 

The ASRock X870 Steel Legend WiFi Motherboard

The board comes in a stadard ATX form factor so it it should fit in most chassis. It uses a 8-Layer PCB, and features a decent 14+2+1 Phase Power Design, and 80A Dr.MOS for VCore+SOC for excellent stability and reliability

For cooling, the motherboard features an optimized Aluminum Heatsink Design which offers efficient heat dissipation during heavy workloads. These heatsnks are found on the top of the motherboard as well as along the I/O hood. There are also several extra large aluminum alloy M.2 heatsinks to help cool your SSDs.

 

A Closer Look

On the top of the motherboard, there are 2 x 8-pin PCIE power connectors (which needs to be connected). For extra cooling, there’s a total of 6 x 4-pin fan headers on the board (3 at the top, 2 at the bottom, and 1 near the I/O hood).

The motherboard comes with 4 x DDR5 DIMM slots, supporting both XMP and AMD’s EXPO memory with speeds of up to DDR5-8000+. Expansion slots include 1 x PCIE 5.0 x16 steel slot for next-gen graphics cards and 1 x PCIE 4.0 x16 slot.

For storage, it comes with a total of 4 x SATA ports and 2 x Hyper M.2 PCIE Gen4 slots and 1 x Blazing M.2 PCIE Gen5 slot featuring their tool-less design heatsink, which allows users to mount their M.2 SSDs with ease. They also come with a bottom heatsink which enables it to dissipate heat more efficiently.

 

On the back I/O panel, you’ll find a HDMI port, connectors for WiFi 7 antennas, BIOS Flashback button, 4 x USB 2.0 ports, 2 x USB 3.2 Gen1 ports, 2 x Lightning USB ports, 2 x USB4 ports, 2.5GB LAN, 1 x optical S/PDIF Out connector, Line-out and Mic-in.
