ASRock X870 Steel Legend WiFi Motherboard Review

Verdict and Conclusion

Earlier in the week, we reviewed the ASRock’s flagship X870E Taichi Motherboard, which is undoubtedly is one of the best X870E motherboards on the market. It’s packed with amazing features with performance to match, and it’s ideal for both enthusiasts and content creators alike. Now, after reviewing the X870 Steel Legend WiFi motherboard … where does it stand?

Well, the ASRock X870 Steel Legend WiFi motherboard is targeted at the mainstream market, focusing on aesthetics and value for money. It’s one of the first all-white X870 motherboards we’ve seen so far, but lacks some of the enthusiast features found on its bigger sibbling, the X870E Taichi. However having said that, it does offer decent enough performance, and plenty of other features as you would expect from a X870 based motherboard.

During our tests, we managed to get pretty decent scores in all of our benchmarks. For Cinebench 2024, we got a score of 2,081 points for multi core, and 132 points for single core. For PCMark 10, we got a decent  score of 10,725, and a score of 16,912 for PassMark 11.

For Procyon Video Editing Benchmark, we a got score of 11,548 and a score of 213 for the AI Computer Vision Benchmark. For 3DMark Steel Nomad and Speedway, we got very good scores of 6,651 and 7,588 respectively. And finally, for Port Royal and Timespy, we got decent scores of 18,594 and 24,682 respectively.

The motherboard offers good stability thanks to the 14+2+1 Power Phase design, 20K capacitors, 8-Layer PCB, and 80A Dr.MOS for VCore.

There are only 2 expansion slots, you get 1 x PCIe 5.0 x16 steel slot for next-gen graphics cards, and 1 PCIe 4.0 x16 slot, which some may find inadequate … for but me, I’m ok with that. The board has 4 x DDR5 DIMM slots, supporting both XMP and AMD’s EXPO memory modules with speeds of up to DDR5-8000+.

For storage, it comes with a total of 4 x SATA ports and 2 x Hyper M.2 PCIE Gen4 slots and 1 x Blazing M.2 PCIE Gen5 slot featuring their tool-less design heatsink, which allows users to mount their M.2 SSDs with ease. They also come with a bottom heatsink which enables it to dissipate heat more efficiently.

As far connectivity is concerned, you get a total of 18 USB ports (9 rear, 9 front), 2 x USB4 ports, WiFi7 and 2.5GB LAN. Other features include Realtek 7.1 HD Nahimic audio, HDMI output, support for Bluetooth, and ASRock’s Polychrome Sync.

If you’re after a decent X870 motherboard with an all-white aesthetic, then the ASRock X870 Steel Legend WiFi is perfect for you. It’s got a good amount of features, and offers decent performance at an affordable price.
