Verdict and Conclusion
The Z590 PG Velocita is the natural successor to ASRock’s previous generation of their Z490 series of motherboards. Improvements include native support for PCIE 4.0 standards, both on the PCIE x16 Steel slots and the Hyper M.2 for SSDs, better XMP profiles and support for higher memory speeds. Network connectivity have also been upgraded too. You now get the Killer 2.5GB LAN and Killer WiFi 6, not to mention all the rest which includes. SuperAlloy, Dr.MOS, 14 Phase Dr.MOS Power Design, 7.1 HD Nahimic Audio and of course ASRock’s Polychrome Sync. So as far features is concerned … the ASRock Z590 PG Velocita is seriously ‘LOADED’.
And when it comes to performance, the Z590 PG Velocita produced some pretty good scores in all of our benchmarks … including a PCMark10 score of 8296, and a Passmark9 score of 8931. For Port Royal, we got a score of 6,613 with a DLSS score of 42.86 fps. For 3DMark Time Spy and Firestrike, we got an excellent score of 11,229 and 24,188 respectively. So all-in-all, I’m more than please with the overall performance and results.
After looking at all the features, and the overall performance of the ASRock Z590 PG Velocita, I feel that this motherboard (along with Intel’s 11th Gen Rocket Lake) could have truly been a coveted product … if they released it last year. To be honest, I think Intel got their wired mixed up here. The transition from 300 series chipset (LGA1151 socket) to 400 series chipset (LGA1200 socket) was a painful one. At that time, many complained about the lack of PCIE 4.0 support on the new Z490 chipset, plus the new LGA1200 socket means that users had to buy a new 10th Gen Comet Lake processor. And then within a matter of only 9-10 months, Intel released 500 series chipset, along with Intel’s 11th Gen Rocket Lake (which is still using 14nm tech, by the way – facepalm).
Anyway rant over, and back to the review.
ASRock informed us that they’ve included a new special feature by Killer called ‘Double Shot Pro’. It combines the speed of both the onboard Killer 2.5G LAN connection (2.5 Gbps) as well as the Killer Wifi 6E (2.4 Gbps), giving you a theoretical maximum output speed of 4.9 Gbps. You can check out the full how-to article here.
Killer DoubleShot Pro allows the use of both the Killer Wireless and Killer Ethernet interfaces work at the same time which will give the end user max throughput as high as 4.9 Gbps, it automatically utilizes the fastest network connection for high priority traffic, this ensures the highest priority traffic will always be put on the fastest and most reliable link.
You can buy ASRock Z590 PG Velocita motherboard … for around USD $350 from Amazon – https://amzn.to/3w8uaVl. At this price, it’s a little too high for my liking. I think it would be better if the price is somewhere between $250-299. Now that will be extremely attractive.
