Performance – Part 2
3D performance and games
3D tests were performed on the RTX4080 graphics card from Colorful, which is still one of the fastest options on the current market.
All the UL benchmarks perform great and even slightly better than expected. Below are our results, which are close to the error margin compared to other reviewed ASRock Z890 motherboards.
UL benchmarks are mainly known for the 3DMark series, a market standard for years. The new tests provide support for the latest graphics card technologies. However, they’re not games; users often wish to know the results of their favorite titles. Since covering all games is impossible, some selected at 1440p at ultra settings are below.
All the games also give us similar results on all Z890 motherboards, which confirms that the Z890 Taichi Lite is a perfect motherboard for gaming and provides optimal performance. The best results are the same or 1FPS higher on more expensive motherboards, but again, it can be an error margin, considering we see high FPS in all presented games.
Networking
The Z890 Taichi Lite has 2.5Gbps and 5Gbps Realtek LAN and WiFi 7. All options are perfect for even more demanding users. During various tests, we had no problems with the connection quality on both connection types.
Our result for the TamoSoft benchmark is above. The 5GbE NIC gives us a nearly 4.8Gbps average. There are always some signal losses and background services running, so it’s about the maximum possible network bandwidth using a 5GbE NIC, and we are fully satisfied with the result.
Since the test environment has many wireless networks and thick walls, the signal isn’t perfect, so we decided to focus on the internet speed and access time. In connections between various servers, we had no problems with latency or the maximum bandwidth. Both are about as high as the ISP offers.
Overclocking
The Taichi Lite is perfect for overclocking. We could reach 5.7GHz on P-cores and 5.0GHz on E-cores with our limited time for tunning. Everything is easy and doesn’t require many options, so don’t be scared at first when you see a long list of new options in BIOS. The motherboard handles well most options left at auto settings, which makes everything much easier and faster.
RAM overclocking is also quite easy, and the motherboard already has pre-defined RAM settings for CUDIMM modules. We couldn’t pass 9200MT/s stable, but it can be a matter of BIOS version, or maybe it’s a matter of other used components. Either way, 9200MT/s at quite tight timings is a great result. However, it’s already Gear 4 territory, which lowers the overall performance, so it is recommended to stay at about 8800MT/s and tweak sub-timings for the best performance.
The Taichi Lite is a perfect motherboard for all tasks. I’m sure you will be satisfied with it, whether you are into overclocking or want to run everything at default settings and enjoy easy-to-get full stability.
