The Box and Packaging
The amount of extras and accessories you’ll get with the Rampage VI Extreme is completely nuts! Just look at all the extras below.
You get 2 wifi antennas, 3 SLI bridge connectors (2-way, 3-way and 4-way), DIMM.2 card for your M.2 SSDs and a fan controller card … not to mention, there’s loads of SATA cables, temperature probes and fan cables.
The Motherboard Itself
The Rampage VI Extreme comes in a full size EATX form factor and is larger than most ATX motherboards. The I/O panel is covered by an impressive hood featuring an OLED display for showing your motherboard status and temperatures readings. This basically replaces the usual onboard diagnostic LEDs.
For extra cooling, there is a shield that covers the entire bottom half of the motherboard revealing only the PCI slots.
A Closer Look
As with most higher-end ROG motherboards, you’ll find extras like the start and reset button, as well as a retry and safe-boot button. Perfect for all you overclockers out there.
The motherboard not only has the usual 24-pin ATX power and 8-pin motherboard connectors, but also an extra 4-pin motherboard power connector (photo 4). This provides extra power to the motherboard, giving you extra stability especially when you overclock.
Underneath this shield, you’ll find an extra M.2 connector for your M.2 SSD and various circuitry for your RGB LEDs. There’s also 2 x U.2 connectors as well as 6 x SATA 3 ports for your storage.
For I/O back panel features a clear CMOS button, BIOS recycle, 3 wifi antenna connectors, 6 x USB 3.0, 2 x USB 3.1 (Type-A and C), BIOS and Keyboot USB connectors, 10GB LAN port , 1GB LAN, optical out and an array of audio connectors.
