Installation
For our installation, we used a Vertical Open Chassis, and a Cooler Master MasterLiquid PL 240 AIO for cooling. Everything fitted nicely, but it was pretty tight. There wasn’t much room around the Intel LGA1700 processor socket.
The ASUS ROG Strix Z790-E Gaming WiFi is a full size ATX motherboard, so it should fit most mid and full tower cases. Please check your chassis manufactuer to be sure.
BIOS
The BIOS of the ASUS ROG Strix Z790-E Gaming WiFi is easy to use and nagivate. During boot up it defaults to the “Easy Mode” page where you can monitor all the system status.
Since our DDR5 ram is XMP 3.0 ready, we selected Profile 1 and ran the memory at DDR5-6200 speeds. All other BIOS settings were left on AUTO/Default.
You can also enable/disable “Re-Size BAR” which can improve overall performance of your system.
If you switch to “Advanced Mode” by pressing F7, you’ll then see all the other options available for tweaking your processor, memory and more. Voltages for memory and processor can also be adjusted here, as well as options for AI Overclock Tuner, AI Features, Asus EZ flash, and Aura sync.
The advanced tab allows users to configure the chipset, storage and NVMe, LEDs, as well as onboard devices such as LAN, USSB 4, audio, and Bluetooth. For overclockers, the BIOS allows CPU and memory overclocking, and you can also set the CPU frequency and voltages too.
For memory compatibility and QVL (qualified vendors list), I recommend you check Asus’s QVL page here.
