Biostar B760M-SILVER arrived in a retail package which is a well-described flat box. The front graphics suggest the Silver series, and on the back, we can find key features and specifications of the motherboard. The package looks similar to that of the previously reviewed Biostar motherboards. It’s clean and straightforward but eye-catching.
Inside the box are a well-protected motherboard, SATA data cables, user’s manual, driver’s DVD, and IO shield. It’s enough for the installation and about the same as in most Biostar motherboards.
The motherboard’s design is relatively standard. It’s about the same as that of the B760A-Silver motherboard reviewed some months ago. The PCB is black with silver heatsinks, but everything looks quite standard. There are no heat pipes, and the M.2 heatsink covers only the first M.2 socket. There is also an empty socket for the WiFi/BT module. Everything is correct, but it suggests the price cuts to keep a competitive option for less demanding gamers.
The motherboard has quite a strong power design, and the used, fanless cooling keeps it cool under high load. This is an obvious advantage as this is what we all expect, and there are competitive motherboards that still use small fans that make noise.
The Dr. MOS 70A power design is strong enough to handle every LGA1700 CPU. If we wish to save some money on a faster graphics card or CPU, then the B760M-SILVER seems like a good option that is cheaper than the Z790 motherboards, where most fancy features won’t ever be used.
On the next page, we will look at the BIOS/UEFI.
