The Box and Packaging
You get a really great looking box with a textured feel. The contents include 2 SATA data cables, I/O backplate, G-Connector, user’s manual and drivers on CD.
The motherboard itself …
The Gigabyte GA-Z270X Ultra Gaming is a full size ATX motherboard and measures 30.5cm x 24.4cm in dimensions. It should fit in most of ATX cases. The I/O panel is covered by a plastic hood which adds some aesthetics and provide some protection.
The diagnostic LEDs are an added bonus and will let users identify if there are any issues with the system during the boot up sequence.
A Closer Look
There are a total of 6 x SATA and 2 SATA Express ports, which is plenty enough for most users. The Dual Armor with Ultra Durable design, is found on the two PCI-E x16 slots (pictured). It adds extra support and protection for heavy graphic cards. The 3rd PCI-E x16 is your standard slot type (no armor).
The RGB Fusion can be found throughout the motherboard including on the DIMM memory slots, PCI-E x16 slots, trace path around the audio chip, the outer edge of the CPU socket, and the right-side of the motherboard near the ATX power connector.
Sadly, the motherboard lacks a clear CMOS button, which I find a little disappointing.
For connectivity, the I/O panel features the legacy PS/2 mouse and keyboard connector, 2 x USB 3.1 Gen 2, DVI, USB 3.1 Gen 2, USB Type-C, 2 x USB 3.0 (Gen 1), HDMI, Gigabit LAN, 2 x USB 2.0 and an array of connectors for HD audio which is powered by the Realtek ALC 1220 codec.
