Today, we’ll be taking a look at the Gigabyte X870 AORUS ELITE WiFi7 Motherboard. It utilizes AMD’s newest X870 chipset and is compatible with the Ryzen 7000, 8000 and the latest 9000 series of processors on the AM5 socket.
It features a 6-Layer, 2X Copper PCB and Gigabyte’s digital twin 16+2+2 phases VRM solution, for superb stability and reliability.
It has 4 x DDR5 DIMM slots supporting AMD EXPO memory modules in dual channel mode. Expansion slots include 1 x PCIe 5.0 x16 with PCIe UD Slot X for next-gen graphics cards, 1 x PCIe 4.0 x4 Slot and 1 x PCIe 3.0 x2 Slot.
For storage, it comes with 4 SATA ports and 4 x PCIE Gen5 M.2 slots as well as 1 x PCIE Gen4 M.2 slot, whic is plenty for most users. It comes with EZ-Latch Plus and EZ-Latch Click for both PCIE and M.2 slots, with Quick Release & Screwless Design.
This motherboard also comes with a total of 19 USB ports including 2 x USB 4.0 ports and an internal HDMI port for internal displays. Other features include Realtek 7.1 HD audio, and support for WiFi 7, 2.5 GbE LAN and Bluetooth 5.4
There’s also a power-on button, a reset switch and a handy diagnostic LED, which are all located on the top right side of the board.
On the back I/O panel, there are 4 x USB2.0 ports, 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, 4 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, 2 x super fast USB 4 Type-C ports.
There’s also a Q-Flash button, magnetic WiFi 7 connectors, HDMI port, 2.5GbE LAN port, and an array of audio connectors for lineout, mic-in and SPDIF.

Here you can see the main difference between the X870 and the X870E chipsets. The X870 will have a total of 36 useable PCIE lanes, while the higher end X870E will have a total of 44 useable PCIE lanes, and support for more higher speed USB ports.
Why are PCIE lanes important? Well, the number of PCIE lanes in a slot or connection determines the available bandwidth for data transfer between the motherboard and the expansion card. More lanes generally mean higher data transfer rates and better performance. For the X870, there’s a total of 36 PCIE usuable lanes versus 44 PCIE lanes for the X870E.

Sry i cant agree on this review because only 2 NVME SSDs are usable when you want to use the PCI-Express 5×16 Slot for the graphic card.
If all NVME SSDs are used then the graphic cards runs with 8x instead of 16x speed…
True … this board uses the X870 chipset which has less useable PCIE lanes. If you want more PCIE lanes, then go for the X870E boards.
but still a KO critria für AM5 others like Asrock at least 3 NVME are usable or like the Asrock X870€ Phantom Gaming WIFI even 5 NVME are useable(1 though PCI-E 3.0×2) .
