Verdict and Conclusion
A good, solid motherboard can sometimes be a hard thing to come by so it can often take some patience and a keen-eye for quality when shopping online or at your local hardware outlet. Gigabyte seeks to ease that burden by going with what works, and I have to say they’ve succeeded here.
It should be apparent by now that Gigabyte really loves to jam-pack their boards with a lot of knobs, dials, and switches that are largely not just there for show. I really do like having a lot of range when it comes to customizing and tailoring the settings to get the results I want while also keeping a good level of efficiency and, but more importantly having that control as well as convenience at my fingertips.
I said at the beginning of this review that this is the first board we’ve had to accomodate the Haswell (or Socket 1150), and I think, if nothing else, that’s where this board really shines. Both components complement each other well with speed and a capacity to meet that speed head on.
And now for my favorite part…
Just how much can you expect to spend on a board like this? Generally you’ll find the Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD4H for $190.00 USD retail plus S&H if buying online. That’s…about what I would expect for the type of product we’re dealing with here. It’s admittedly a bit of a hike, but it is worth it if you can afford it.
Pros:
- Voltage Read Points
- UD5 Technology
- 3-way SLi/Crossfire
- Plenty of Storage Options
- LED Debug Screen
Cons:
- Somewhat pricy.
Final Verdict:
Is it great? I seem to ask that question a lot and, to be honest, it’s pretty darn close. The fact that Gigabyte has been consistently outdoing themselves in performance, options, and price, it’s easy to get a good feeling about them and their products. So, If you’re looking for reliable and capable, you’d be making a good choice with the z87x.
