Intel DP67BG Extreme Series Motherboard Review

Overclocking

(Using Gigabyte P67A-UD4 Motherboard)

I was a little disappointed with the overclocking ability of the Intel DP67BG motherboard. Although it does overclock to certain extent, I was expecting a lot more. The BIOS does have some options for overclocking, but I felt that it was a little limiting. For example, using the unlocked multiplier option, we were only able to increase it from the default of x34 to a maximum of x38.

So during our overclocking tests, we used a Gigabyte P67A-UD4 motherboard instead. With this new combination of chip and motherboard, we were now able to overclock the Core i7-2600K processors from the default of 3.4Ghz  to a whopping 4.5Ghz … all on aircooling. This is thanks to its unlocked multipliers. In order to achieved this, we simply increased the multiplier to x45 and bumped up the voltage to 1.3V for good measure.
