BIOS/UEFI
Many BIOS options are also availabe in SUPERO Windows application. There is also one option which is availabe only in Windows what is a bit weird and personally I wish to see it in BIOS/UEFI. I mean LED management. At default there is enabled “Play Harder” profile which is changing colours and is blinking what some users may not like. Once we get access to the options, we can change it to anything else we wish from static light to rainbow mode.
Now let’s check what we have available in BIOS/UEFI.
Above is our welcome screen in easy mode. Looks too easy so let’s move to more advanced settings.
CPU
Advanced box is unlocking additional power options like Load Line Calibration. This is however not easy to set and you may spend a lot of time checking these options. All is possible but you will find some options a bit harder to set than on motherboards from other brands. On the other hand, some competitive motherboards don’t have some options which can be found on the C7Z370-CG-IW.
Memory
The C7Z370-CG-IW works well with various memory IC. On Samsung and Hynix memory chips we were able to set stable DDR4-3600 or higher memory speed. Samsung is generally overclocking a bit better but the same is on all motherboards.
Our Patriot DDR4-3733 memory kit was able to boot without issues at XMP profile. One timing was wrong but it was still close and everything was fully stable. Crucial, Patriot and G.Skill memory kits at DDR4-3200, DDR4-3466 and DDR4-3600 were booting without issues and all timings were correct. That includes 8GB and 16GB memory modules.
One thing which I hope will be fixed in next BIOS releases is how motherboard acts on various memory modules. Higher frequency memory kits have available higher manual settings. All our memory kits below DDR4-3600 had maximum memory setting of DDR4-3600 while DDR4-3600 and DDR4-3733 memory kits had on the list options even above DDR4-4266.
Advanced
Advanced tab includes all settings related to various devices, storage, graphics card settings and many others.
Thermal & Fan
Thermal & Fan tab helps us to set fans and check PC health. For our setup the best was manual setting with silent mode and AIO fan set to DC mode. Somehow Corsair AIO didn’t like PWM while all other fans were working perfectly fine.
Here is also mentioned LED adjustment tab which is not available in BIOS/UEFI but in SuperO software in Windows.
