SUPERO C9Z790-CGW Gaming Motherboard Review

Performance: CPU and Memory

Tests were performed on the latest Intel platform, which contains the i5-13600, 14-core processor, Corsair Vengeance 32GB DDR5-7000 memory kit, Colorful RTX4080 Advanced OC graphics card, Team Group Delta 1TB SATA SSD, Patriot PXD 1TB USB 3.2 SSD, Abconcore 850W Gold 80+ PSU, and Deepcool DS620 CPU cooler.

Let’s begin the tests with CPU-Z screenshots showing the working motherboard and the CPU frequency.

The CPU is not limited by cooling or the motherboard, and it easily reaches the declared 5GHz turbo frequency. In tests with a full load of all cores, the frequency is slightly lower but still higher than expected.

There were no problems with stability during longer tests, but the CPU itself is quite limited regarding overclocking, so we skipped that. The processor’s performance is still great for everyday use and gaming.

In both rendering benchmarks, so Cinebench R23 and Blender, results are as high as expected.

As in all previous SUPERO motherboards, also here we have problems reaching as high RAM frequencies as on competitive motherboards. Regardless of what memory kit we use, we will be limited to about DDR5-6400. It wouldn’t be a bad result if it could run at tight timings. The Corsair Vengeance DDR5-7000 CL34 memory kit used for tests is capable of passing DDR5-8000 CL34, while on the C9Z790-CGW, we are stuck at DDR5-6400 CL38. Any lower CL or higher frequency couldn’t boot.

The RAM performance is still better than enough for most users. Below is our result in the AIDA64 Cache and Memory Benchmark.

The performance in daily applications seems the most important for most users, and this situation simulates PCMark 10. Our results are great for the PC specification, so of course, we are happy to see so high scores.

Even better look results in PCMark 10 Applications benchmark, where the total scores are not so far from the top results on much more expensive processors.

On the next page, we will take a look at 3D benchmarks, which are the most important for gamers.
