Cyberpunk 2077 Benchmark (4K – Ray Tracing: OverDrive)
CD PROJEKT RED released an update (v1.5) for Cyberpunk 2077 which includes their Ray Tracing: Overdrive option with RTX on and DLSS3 enabled. It’s incredibly demanding on your hardware.
Verdict and Conclusion
Now, we all know the how good the GeForce RTX4080 SUPER really is in terms of performance. It’s currently the second fastest gaming graphics card on the market behind the RTX 4090. So with that said, we can expect the MSI GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER Gaming X Slim to perform just like any other RTX 4080 SUPER. However, since it uses an overclocked GPU running at 2,610 MHz (default is 2550 MHz), you’re actually getting a slightly better overall performance.
And remember, the card also comes with 16GB of GDDR6X ram running at 23Gbps, plus you get the power of Nvidia’s ADA Lovelace architecture with a massive 10,240 CUDA cores, 80 RT cores, 320 Tensor cores, and support for DLSS 3.5.
Now let’s talk about the dimensions of the card. Measuring just 322mm x 136mm x 62mm in size, it’s one of the thinnest GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER we’ve come across. A slimmer graphics card design means space more inside your case, and therefore allowing more airflow. During our tests, we used an Intel Core i9-14900K processor, along with an Asus Strix Z790-E Gaming motherboard and 32GB of Corsair Dominator DDR5-7400 memory. We got excellent scores in all of our benchmarks, including an impressive score of 10,542 for Basemark’s Relic of Life, and a Geekbench GPU score of 253,010. For Unigine’s Valley benchmark, we got a score of 11,136, and a Final Fantasy benchmark score of 22,061. Passmark 11 GPU was 37,261.
For Superposition 1080p extreme and optimized 4K, we got really good score of 16,702 and 22,940 respectively. For 3DMark Steel Nomad and Speed Way, we got excellent scores of 6,684 and 7,385 respectively. For Port Royal, and Time Spy, it produced an impressive scores of 18,331 and 27,534 respectively. And lastly, we got a DirectX Raytracing score of 88.04 fps and a DLSS score of 40.49 fps.
For Cyberpunk 2077, CD PROJEKT RED released their new update (v2.11), which includes a new benchmark mode. It features their Ray Tracing: Overdrive option with RTX on and DLSS3 enabled. It’s incredibly demanding on your hardware, so we added it to our benchmark tests (see above). The MSI GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER Gaming X Slim produced an astonishing score of 55.07 frames per second.
During our actual full load GPU stress tests, the total board power draw was around 285.89W, which was a quite a surprise. I was expecting well above 300W. Anyway, we still recommend a minimum power supply of 850W or higher.
For cooling, the card features MSI’s TRI FROZR 3 thermal design, which includes core heatpipes for maximum contact between the GPU and heatsink, as well as Torx Fan 5 – featuring fan blades linked by ring arcs, to help stabilize and maintain high-pressure airflow. All of these great cooling features helps to bring the GPU hotspot to a low 80 degrees Celsius at full load.
Video outputs include 2 x DisplayPort 1.4a and 2 x HDMI 2.1a, which is more than enough for most gamers out there. On the top left side of the card, you’ll find a MSI logo that lights up with RGB, but unfortunately, there’s no RGB lighting on the fans, which is a shame as I’m a huge fan of RGB, LOL!
The package includes a handy graphics card holder which helps to prevent sag, and you also get a 3 x 8-pin PCIE to 16-pin 12VHPWR adapter with the package, which is nice.

It’s used by a lot of overclockers and enthusiasts alike, and allows you to take full control of the graphics card, while monitoring key system metrics in real-time. It’s free to use and compatible with most other vendor graphics cards too!

If space is at a premium inside your case, then the MSI GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER 16G GAMING X SLIM is the perfect card for any hardcore gaming enthusiast. It offers excellent performance thanks to an overclocked GPU, which is cooled by MSI’s TRI FROZR 3 thermal design delivering exceptional cooling.
